IEWM has partnered with various organisations to bring solutions to different communities.

WADI

IEWM partnered with the Lions Club Vienna Belvedere and HELIOZ on a water project on water quality for communities through the promotion of SODIS. The project was piloted in Kibera, Kajiado and Kericho. WADI is a solar-powered UV-measurement device which uses Solar Water Disinfection process to purify water safe for drinking.

EU/UNICEF Water Governance project in Arid and Semi-Arid Areas of Kenya

Supporting implementation of the EU/UNICEF Water Governance Programme in arid and Semi-arid districts. Providing technical support to line Ministries (public health, Water) and training and capacity building of local communities on water, sanitation, health and hygiene in Ijara, Tana River and Garissa Districts.

Gender and Water Alliance (GWA)

GWA is a global network and IEWM is the Eastern Africa regional focal point. IEWM organized and implemented a training and capacity-building program on gender equality in integrated water resources management; gender and climate change; gender and sanitation for regional members and stakeholders. In addition, we supported advocacy programmes at the national, regional and international decision-making platforms in the sector. We also supported research on gender and water among other activities

International Development Research Centre (IDRC)

Undertook a 3-year research on Addressing Sanitation Challenge in Poor Urban areas through Sustainable Technologies, Gender Integration and Supportive Policy Framework.  The project designed and installed a range of gender-sensitive sanitation facilities for households, schools and public /communal in Kenya and Uganda

Nordic Climate Facility (NCF)

Enhancing adaptive capacity and mitigation of climate change through technology transfers for access to safe drinking water in a changing climate. The project helped secure access to a safe water supply for about 15000 residents of Kibera by facilitating technology transfer for 2500 households and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by reducing charcoal and kerosene usage by 50% at the household level.

ACT! CRM Facility/DFID/SIDA

Strengthening institutional capacity for integrating gender and social issues in climate change in Kenya. Activities included; gender audits, training and capacity building of state and non-state actors on gender mainstreaming in climate change, lobbying and advocacy, knowledge management, facilitating multi-stakeholder and dialogues, Mainstreaming climate in county development in Nakuru, Kirinyaga and Kajiado counties.

Women Organizing for Change in Agriculture & Natural Resource Management (WOCAN)

 Strengthening women's participation in the agriculture value chain and natural resource management. The project also facilitated the learning and scaling up of local technologies aimed at reducing women’s workload thus freeing their time and meeting their livelihood needs.

Care International

IEWM implemented the Adaptation Learning Advocacy Program in Kenya with support from Care. The programme worked towards stronger coordination and collaboration among CSOs to ensure the interests of the most vulnerable people were prioritised at all levels. This was implemented through the Gender and Climate Change Working Group.

Greenbelt Movement (GBM)

Supported GBM in the implementation of the International Climate Initiative (ICI). Through the initiative, comprehensive County Climate Change Action Plans were developed as a mechanism to accelerate the implementation of the National Climate Change Response Strategy (NCCRS) in the counties of Nandi and Nakuru. IEWM work involved convening and facilitating stakeholder meetings to develop county climate change action plans.
